Welcome to our first blog entry!  :)

Thought I would share with you an insightful poem written by Jan, TBI (traumatic brain injury) survivor.

Outside, Inside

On the outside

You see me as normal

On the inside

I see how non-normal I am.

On the outside

I appear involved in the discussion

On the inside

I see how furiously my brain is working – just to keep up.

On the outside

You see me forget things

On the inside

I am infuriated by my forgetfulness.

On the outside

My words seem to come easily

On the inside

I can feel the words slipping away from my lips.

On the outside

You see me laughing at jokes

On the inside

I don’t get it—I feel stupid.

On the outside

You see me as normal

On the inside

I see my brain injury

And it hurts.

So, share with us your thoughts….

What is it like for you to live with brain injury?
